During days I rode towards and among the mountains that raised more and more to the orient, going through valleys that apparently had not been seen by human eyes in countless years, maybe since the fall of the Ancient's civilization. In them was breathed a pure, light and fresh air, that seemed to invigorate anything that was in contact with it. But the distance that separated me from the camp of the soldiers was too short yet as to be feeling myself calm, so I persisted in advancing, stopping just to let Arod rest enough,. At this rhythm I continued for many days, always going into the heights, closer to the forests that suddenly had covered all the summits that I was able to see. After almost one week I arrived to a deep and narrow valley. In the bottom shone the diamond-like shine of a stream of clear waters. Going down through a path that zigzagged between the shrubs and heaths I finally came to a little clearing, ideal to camp for a few days. I was eating something when I felt that someone or something was calling me next to the river. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know the region nor the creatures that dwelled there, so I prepared a defensive spell, I took my staff and a dagger that belonged to Guille, something more appropriate to fight with a beast. I advanced carefully, trying not to make any noise. The night was so dark that I barely could see beyond my own nose, and I couldn't hear a noise, excepting for the whisper of the water running among the rocks and fallen trees. Fearful I kneeled on the shore and waited, my whole body tense. - I see you heard my call - I heard a voice behind me. It was a clear, deep and velvet voice that denoted a big power but at the same time a huge kindness. When I turned to see, a pair of bright eyes were watching me calmly. After a few instants they disappeared in the direction of my bonfire. When I went back to the fire, I could see a big cat-like creature of golden coat with a few traces of black hair, that I recognized as the same that received us when we crossed the natural frontier of this old reign. - Then you called me? For what? - Don't be impatient. Is not the moment for answers yet. You are not ready. You have a much to learn. - said while he was going to the shadows beyond the clearing. - Wait! - I cried before he disappeared from my sight - Are you the Guard of the Lost Temple, the one that the ancient parchments and my Master told me about? - No, I am not the Guard,
but the guide. Now go to rest, because with the dawn will start your quest-
and with those words he vanished in the shades. It was still dark when
I woke up. I barely tasted the food while I was getting ready to continue
my trip, because I had not many supplies and I didn't know what was waiting
for me ahead. Toward the noon we leave the forest to a narrow throat, of vertical walls and totally clean of any vegetation. The path ran next to a stream of fast current, and every time I closed my eyes, I thought I could hear giggling nymphs splashing by my side. Thus, the memories of my Lady, there in the far Enchanted Castle came to my mind and the nostalgia clouded my thoughts for a moment, because I had know anything about her in a very long time, and some many things had happened that now I could feel how the big blaze that once burned my heart wasn't now but, a lukewarm fire that keep the warmth of the every time farther home... During days we went into narrow and sharp paths, going more and more into the heart of the mountain range. Some times our guide disappeared for some hours and when he was back he brought to us some birds or hares with him. Finally, with the full moon, came for us the rest in a small valley covered with high grasses that fed from the water that fell from a high wall of solid rock that the time and the incessant work of the water, had sculpted in form of a gigantic stairway with seven circular cavities in their center, like seven cups connected to each other. Although during the trip
the Puma had tried to teach me many things about how to rake and to watch
a prey. and how to hide to suddenly appear as from nowhere, now, in this
valley, would begin my training in the Hunter's ways, necessary to survive
in uninhabited lands. This way is how, little by little I learned how
to attack with agility, strength and speed. But while I was practicing
I began to realize the true nature of the gift that the Blue Flame gave
me: suddenly, when in an attack I lost my dagger, the dim image of claw
was projected from my hand when I continued the strike; and when I was
treating the wounds received during the training, I felt the healing power
of the Earth reaching my body, flowing through the grass that I was touching.
Then, was this the "Blue Magic"? If so, what's the difference with the
White Magic"? Because both of them are connected to the essence of all
living beings... But I feel there's something else about the Blue Magic...
Whatever it is, this Magic is now a part of me, increasing my own abilities....
About three weeks after we arrived to the valley of the Seven Cups, a dark night, without moon nor stars, the Puma came for me. He said it was the moment to know the Temple of the Mountain. Since the valley was surrounded by high rocky walls, excepting for the road that brought here, Arod wouldn't be able to come with me this time, but I knew he would be safe while he doesn't leave this valley. With a lot of effort I climbed the slippery walls between each 'step' and when I reached the top I found myself facing a narrow paved path that was born exactly in the center of the current and divided it by the half up to where my view reached. While I was advancing I noticed that this path was really an old almost submerged stone bridge that has been there for countless ages and that seemed to be protected against the action of the time and the water for a magic old as the history. More than three hours after the dawn I reached the end of the bridge, in a little island emerged in middle of the lake that originated the curse of water that we followed for many days. In the top of the hill there was a little rock construction from which. On the hill there was a small construction of rock of which a flagstone stood out of little more than 3 feet high, engraved with runes unknown for me. Over the flagstone there was four flames engraved in a sapphire badge, each flame being the vertexes of the rhombus. One of the flames, the right vertex, was shinning with a dim blue glow. The Puma was seated in front of this flagstone, waiting for me, immobile, like an sculpture. - This is the entrance to the Temple of the Mountain. Here you will find the Guard and if He accepts you, he will show you the way that has been given to you to follow. Because you have to know that there's a power inside of you that has been always there, but the same as everything in your past, it has been erased from your mind,... Now you should enter there. I will be here when you return. I advanced to the flagstone and I put my hand on the brilliant engraving. I felt something that flowed through and inside of me, and the other three flames began to shine, The flagstone moved to the right opening a hole hardly enough so that I could slip through it. I left everything, except my Staff and the dagger, next to the entrance. Looking to the inside I saw a stairway that descended like an spiral deep into the hill,
