Rose Polenzani--Links
Rose Polenzani
I first heard Rose Polenzani this spring when a friend of mine told me I had to hear her music. Shortly after, I found out she was opening a concert for the Nields in Connecticut, and I knew I couldn't miss out. I was immediately captivated by her utter honesty and her completely unassuming stage presence. I have seen her several more times now since that first concert, and each time I have fallen more deeply in love with Rose's music. I don't quite know how to describe her songs: earthy, entrancing, honest, spiritual, startling... where do I begin? I highly recommend that you check her out.
Favorite Album
Dragersville
Favorite Song
"The Soft Parts". My pal Helene and I saw Rose at Club Passim in Cambridge shortly after the release of Dragersville and she played this song, saying she had just finished it that day. In the middle of the song, I leaned over and said to Helene, "We are in the presence of genius."
Favorite Lyric
"All my friends, they say love is hard/So I hold on to the soft parts."--from "The Soft Parts." I get chills when she sings this. It's not just the words, it's the sweet, sad melody and the ache in her voice....
There aren't very many web sites devoted to Rose yet. In fact, I believe there is only one:
The Official Rose Polenzani Homepage
TashaSquasha's Page also has some Rose content (it was Tasha who introduced me to Rose in the first place!).
I hope there will soon be a few more Rose sites; if they do not materialize soon, perhaps I will just have to create one myself!
