If You Want To Meet Me
I look down at my hands, they remind me of my mother's
If you dig up the battlegrounds of my past you'll find the ghosts of other lovers
As soon as you have something to hold, you're afraid of losing it
You're always looking for a new set of clothes but you're afraid that they won't fit
You tell me you're lonely and I always see you on a crowded avenue
But if you want to meet me, I will be there too
I felt like the fact that I love you was something you held against me
Was there something that I had to confess to you or was there something that you sensed in me?
And is it love or the illusion of love that I really want you?
Did you know when I let you inside that this house was haunted?
I'm willing to jump off of thirty-three floors, I'm willing to take this chance with you
And if you want to meet me, I will be there too
Our summer together is over now and I wonder if you will remember
How we discovered that single rose together in late September
I'm leaving home and I won't look back, I've given up my key
I try not to notice, it was hard to pack and harder still to leave
It's hard to learn how to trust again, especially when it's so new
But if you want to meet me, I will be there too
