Memory Leaves Town

Memory leaves town
I'm going with him
I don't care who knows
I'm going with him
I'll follow him for miles
To see what happens
I'll see where he lives
I'll see where he's been

His mother will be there and she will take me in
We'll sit at the table and talk about how impossible he is

Why do I follow?
Considering the times
He has forgotten
He's seen me at my best
And looked right through me
He'll invite me to his house
And leave me waiting

His mother will throw the door open and tear her apron off
She'll raise her hands to the sky and tell God how impossible he is

Ah
Memory leaves town
Leaving memories
