Tumbling Down

I hear you've gone to Arizona
To be on your own for a while
It's been years since you've seen your mother's face
Or earned your father's smile

And I've been trying for a long time
But years won't come to my (head?)
So I've returned to the scene of the crime
To try to enact it again

Do I seem so much older this time round
Since it all came tumbling down?

This time of the year when the sky is so blue
Makes me think of four years ago
The leaves fell then as they will surely fall soon
But now I won't pretend not to know

The bed got too small for the fantasies you had
Did you watch me as I slept?
Did your feet start to wander up ahead on the path
Till the promise could no longer be kept?

Did you hold her next to me without [...]
Till it all came tumbling down?

They look to me as the wiser sage
Because of what and whom I have known
But nothing in this has made me wiser
It just taught me how to be alone

And love is a game and if it's not you get bored
You pretend to be on the same team
In the end you have to fly, put your picture in the sky
And deny what is left of your dreams

And there's no guarantee the next time around
To keep it all from tumbling down
From tumbling down
From tumbling down

Da da da da da da...
