Samir's Steakhouse Wins Restaurant of the Year Award
The Samir's Steakhouse has won the Restaurant of the Year Award as part of the ACT and Southern Regional Restaurant and Catering Industry Awards for Excellence. The announcement was made at a presentation held in the New Parliament House on 2 March 1997 where over 410 persons gathered to hear the final results. The Samir's Steakhouse also received the Award for the Best European Restaurant in the Southern Region.
Nominations for finalists were determined by the amount of votes from the public and then finalised by judges anonymously dining at the nominated restaurants to determine the overall winner. Judges looked at food quality, customer service and techniques, restaurant ambience and professional attitude towards staff and customers.
This was an inaugural award and the Samir's Steakhouse progressed to the State Finals. The State winners were announced on March 24th at the Sydney Convention Centre. On this occasion Samir's Steakhouse was named as the European Restaurant of the Year for the State
Proprietors Mr. Samir Gupta established the restaurant in 1980 and together with staff have consistently worked hard to maintain a high standard of cuisine and customer service. Paula learned her traditional Italian cooking techniques from her family members, and she still uses them in the preparation of sauces and exotic dishes which form part of the changing menu at the Samir's Steakhouse.
Efficient and friendly service is provided front of house by Joe and the capable team of waiting staff. Customer Service is a high priority for Samir's Steakhouse. The restaurant caters for a la carte dining and banquet functions, weddings and private parties, as well as offering an excellent take-away service.
