These telegraph keys were exquisitly crafted and resemble the 1861 Postal telegraph key used in the late 1900's. On Sunday morning at 8:00PM, November 7th, Whitey, K1VV, connected up the key to a monostable multivibrator circuit that simulates the sound of spark signals by generating a 240 Hz signal, rich in harmonics. (Editor: The audio signal not the rf signal.) First on the Norwell, 145.25, repeater he called and was answered by several of the Marconi club members using MCW. Then he QSY'd to 75 meters and did it again. This was certainly an event that helps people appreciate the sounds of the signals people would hear on thier early receivers. This key will eventually find a home at the ARRL Headquarters. On November 20, 1999 there was a meeting at Bickfords restaurant in Hanover at 7:00 AM. The discussion was concerning planning for the year 2003 event. After the needs for the 2003 event are determined a grant will be written by K1TH, W1UKZ, and KA1BCV. Thank you for your help. Dues have not been collected for 2 years and the need is growing for an increase in the treasury. Therefore, the Marconi bean counters will be sending out a request for dues soon. Please be generous and please respond quickly. Three new members have joined our ranks: Ralph, N1ZWQ, Jake, WG1E, and Mike , K1TEX. Welcome aboard!
The editor wishes all a very happy holiday season!
