Sassy Swiss Steak
This makes a truely wonderful meal, serve with mashed potatoes or rice
Ingredients
- 1 or 2 Pounds Round Steak
- 1 large can of stewed tomatoes
- 1 large onion
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasonning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp parsley
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- oil
- flour
- worchestershire sauce
- Slice onion into half rings
- Heat oil in skillet on med/high
- Cut the round steak into serving size pieces.
- Season with black pepper and worchestershire sauce.
- Dip lightly in flour
- Brown steak on both sides
- Add tomatoes and onion
- Break up tomatoes with a fork, leave some big pieces
- Gently stir in the rest of the spices
- Lift up pieces of meat so sauce goes underneath
- Bring to boil
- After mixture boils, cover and reduce heat to low.
- Simmer 45min., stirring every 10-15 min. so bottom doesn't burn
- Add extra water as needed to prevent sticking
(This is also a great crockpot recipie,
The longer it simmers the more tender the meat.)
(add extra water if you do this in the crock-pot, or simmer it a long time)
