GRACELAND BISCUITS
2 cups Self-rising flour
2 1/2 tbsp. Shortening (Crisco)
1 cup Milk
3 tbsp. Honey or 2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp. Yeast
1 tbsp. Butter
Cut shortening into flour until crumbly (consistency of cornmeal).
Heat milk to approximately 110 degrees F. Add yeast to flour and pour
in warm milk. Add honey. Knead dough sparingly and form into ball.
Let sit thirty minutes. Punch down and roll out to about 1/2 inch
thickness. Cut to desired size with biscuit cutter and place on
ungreased cookie sheet. Brush tops with melted butter. Place in
cold oven. Heat oven to 450 degrees F. and let cook till tops are
golden brown.
