Pretzel Salad
1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
1/2 stick melted butter or margarine
1 cup sugar, divided
One 8 oz. package cream cheese
8 oz. Cool Whip
6 oz. pkg. strawberry Jell-O
Two 10 oz. packages frozen strawberries, thawed
1. In a bowl, combine the pretzels, butter and 1/2 cup sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom of an 9-by-13-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 8 minutes. Let cool.
2. With an electric mixer, mix the cream cheese and remaining sugar. Fold in the Cool Whip. Spread this mixture over cooled pretzel crust.
3. Dissolve the Jell-o in 2 cups of hot water and add the strawberries. Chill until partially set, then pour on top of the cream cheese layer. Chill 24 hours before serving.
