FRIED OKRA
Makes 4 to 6 servings.

Okra, cut into bite-size pieces
1 cup yellow cornmeal
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Put the corn meal and seasoning in a small paper or plastic bag. Add the okra, a handful at a time, and shake to evenly coat. Brown (or deep-fry) the pieces until they turn golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
