Square Wedding Cake

This was my first square wedding cake (and my 8th wedding cake overall), made for SCA friends David and Malaika.
The stacked tiers were 16 12 and 8 inch square cakes iced and decorated with buttercream. The roses were made with Royal icing, and fresh rose petals were used to decorate the table. The design was inspired by an anniversary cake made by Diane Simmons (who was roughly copying a wedding cake from 50 years earlier). Stringwork and borders were piped with star tip 18 and the sotas lace with round tip 2. The cake flavors were, from top to bottom, lemon, chocolate and vanilla.
