What is a pizza? A pizza is a delicious circular dish made of a flour base topped with mouth watering additions of your choice including: mince meat, corn, tomatoes, pineapple, WHATEVER YOU LIKE baked and served piping hot!

What is the history of pizza? Others will tell you Italy. That's wrong. What you know as pizza came into vogue around the time of Napoleon and the French revolution. Italians, known to be lovers of fine food and wines perfected and imported this terrific dish to America. From here it quickly endeared itself to mass production and reexport to the rest of the world. Bon appetite!

When was the first pizza parlor opened in America? 1905 in New York of course! Almost one hundred years ago!

Which famous actor loves pizza the most? We'd guess one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Does pizza have to be a circle? Nope, but neither do burgers! You can make them triangular, square, even a big 'X' to munch on during your favorite X-file episode, diamond, or anything else you can imagine. Just change the shape of your pan to the shape of a crust that fits your imagination.

How big is the biggest pizza ever made? Well it happened in South Africa in December 1990 at the Norwood Hypermarket, and measured whopping 123 feet in diameter!!! Wow! Seconds anyone? (Guinness Book of World Records).

Can pizza help kids at school? Sure. That's how we learnt fractions. Three-quarters is always better than one quarter right.

Who eats the most pizza in America? Results are in. In a 1980 Gallup poll teenagers chose pizza as their favorite food. College students are the hands down winners! They gobble so much of it every pizza store fights for a spot around a campus!

Can vegetarians eat pizza too? Sure can. Just substitute meats for beets! Or use a fruit topping = fruit pizza!

Can you make a million dollars from pizza? Yup. There's Quite a couple million dollar pizza franchises. Good reason for you know how to make one too!

Ready to make your very own pizza?

Here's how to make a Delicious and Healthy gourmet pizza recipe:

First mix together the mouth watering pizza sauce of:

  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 1 lb. Minced beef
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Put that aside, then mix the following delicious pizza dough:

  • 1 cup of warm water

1 tablespoon of baking yeast

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour

Now beat that dough until it's nice and elastic, then add more flour until it's a little stiff and knead it out onto a round shallow butter greased pan (or whatever shape you want the pizza to be), rolling up the edges to about half an inch.

Next, spread the delicious sauce you made in the beginning generously across the surface.

Now put your delicious pizza into an oven on the lower rack at 450 degrees F (230 Celsius) for 15 minutes - until crusty - then take it out and sprinkle a cup of shredded Cheddar cheese across it and allow it to melt.
