Italy

I was fortunate enough to have the chance to spend a month studying in this beautiful country. After that I was hooked - fascinated by Italy. I admit there were times when all I wanted was to be at home and have someone to speak English to, but after a week at home I was dying to go back. The country itself is amazing, beautiful doesn't even begin to describe it. I became fascinated with their culture, the way they did things.

For right now, this page will contain just a few pictures from my time in Italy, but eventually I would like to add more pictures and information about the country. However, my journal and photo album from my trip are currently packed away. So that will have to wait till I figure out what box they are in.

This is the Republic of San Marino, which is actually a small country/republic inside of Italy. It is located on top of a mountain, and shown above is one of the three towers upon a mountain peak. This picture was taken from the other accessible tower. San Marino is one of my two favorite places in Italy.

Venice is my other favorite spot in Italy. I wasn't able to visit any of the smaller islands of Venice; however we chartered a vaperetto to tour the canals and see some of them from afar. The one above is that of San Giorgio, this was taken from atop the Bell Tower in Piazza San Marco. Many believe Venice to be crowded and filthy due to the canals; however crowded it may be, the canals only add intrigue to an already fascinating country. I could wander the streets of Venice for hours without boredom (and literally did one day) - I think it is the only way to find some of the more interesting unknown spots.

Mountains meet the Adriatic Sea near the "City that Smells of Beauty". This would be a small city along the Adriatic called Sirolo. Another beautiful spot and one of the least touristy ones as well.
