FIRST TALKING MOVIE - NO MORE SILENT FILMS
Rochester passed out of silent movie era on May 20, 1929 as the first talking motion picture appeared in Rochester. The movie was titled THE WILD PARTY and the star of the movie was named Clara Bow. The movie was shown at the Scenic Theater and evening admission price was 35 cents for adults and 15 cents for children. On a related note - The cartoon character Betty Boop was fashioned after Clara Bow.
