CHARLES WILLIAM ANTHONY was born January 19, 1843 in Parryville, PA, and died February 12, 1927 in Sanger, CA. He married MARY ELIZABETH FINK January 18, 1871, daughter of JOSHUA FINK and ELIZABETH KAUFFMAN. She was born March 10, 1853 in Rock Run, Stephenson County, Illinois, and died August 18, 1938 in Sanger, CA.

Notes for CHARLES WILLIAM ANTHONY: Rev. and Mrs. Anthony homesteaded on Horse Creek, Slope County, North Dakota in 1906. Rev. Anthony was in his senior years and did little farming. He had a cow, some chickens, and raised a large garden. They got their mail and did their shopping at Yule, North Dakota, on the Little Missouri River eleven miles away. Yule consisted only of a small store and post office. After more settlers came into the area, a post office was established in the Anthony home and he was the postmaster. After the schoolhouse was built in 1908, Rev. Anthony held services on Sundays. The schoolhouse was built on part of Rev. Anthony's homestead, and it was known as Horse Creek School. In 1916, the Anthonys moved to Ollie, Montana, and lived with their two daughters, Clara Holt and Luella Zollinger. Their son, Charles, and his wife and five children lived on the Anthony homestead, where she taught school for three years. In 1919, they moved to Sanger, California.

The votes have been counted and Miss Mellie Anthony, a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Anthony of Farmington, has been announced as the winnger of the $350 piano. We reprint from two Nebraska papers the following: The Daily Nebraska News Piano contest for the most popular woman in Iowa closed yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Miss Mary E. Anthony of Farmington being the winner, with 74,000 votes to her credit. Miss Anthony called at the Daily News business office during the day and was given an order for a $350 Kimball upright, on a local dealer. For the second time Miss Mellie Anthony has proven her ability as a newspaper solicitor. While a resident of Springfield last year she won a fine piano by getting the most votes in a contest given by the Omaha Daily News and in a contest which closed yesterday she won another from Iowa given by the same paper. She was 50,000 votes ahead of her nearest competitor. Miss Anthony has accepted a position as travelling agent for the News at a good salary. Her many Springfield friends are pleased with the result and hope that she will continue to be successful."
