Hong Kong
This is the view from our apartment....admittedly I have removed Happy Valley and made it a lake!!! Poetic Justice! LOL!!
The following is my experience while living in Hong Kong....references to nationalties are not meant to be incriminatory...just a warning to potential expats out there!
Living in Hong Kong can be interesting, although be warned. If you have small children, it can be a strain and not to mention very expensive. So expensive, in fact that my husband's salary didn't cover the rent!!!
We never had a car. So imagine doing the groceries with two small kids and a maid, and hiring a taxi! Then trying to get all of them ( food included ) up ten flights..Pretty amazing.
Maids.....well....quite frankly, forget em...They are lazy, cant cook and usually end up getting themselves pregnant!...Which means that you have to pay for them to get back to the Pines.(phillipines, since thats where most of them come from!)
Food is exceptionally expensive, compared to Australia and the US. Since most of the food actually is imported from thes two countries , then you can imagine. Milk, which I was paying $A2.10 per 2 litres was costing me about $A16. Steak, which here was about A$4 per kilo was costing about $40 per kilo!! It actually worked out cheaper to eat out, than in!!and we did that often!
