Hawaii is a beautiful and mysterious place that we were able to visit in April of 1998.  We visited two islands: Kauai and Maui.  On Kauai we wondered at the beauty of the Na Pali cliffs on the islands northern shore, eroded by the power of the Pacific into the striking image pictured in the film Jurassic Park.  We also visited the Waimea Canyon State Park.  The park is like a mini Grand Canyon.  The pictures don't do it justice.  The elevation where the canyon picture was taken was 4000 feet above sea level - what a drive!

We also were able to visit our friends Mitch and Karen Nowels on the island of Maui.  Mitch was on assignment with his company, and Karen decided to rough it out in the wilds of Maui with her husband.  We had a great time with Mitch and Karen and enjoyed a fantastic Easter brunch on the last day of our trip.  During our time on Maui, we were all able to get some scuba diving in - what a treat!  Lots of fish, underwater caverns, sea turtles, and sheer drop offs that plunge literally thousands of feet.  If that wasn't enough, I managed to capture some decent underwater photos...
