In the shade of the apple tree....

McPherson, which was named in honor of Gen. James B. McPherson, civil war hero, is celebrating its 125th anniversary during 1997. Many activities have been planned throughout the year. A Scottish festival as well as the annual Harvest festival are on schedule for September.

McPherson, Kansas is one of the friendliest small cities in the world. It is a city of about 13,000 fine people. It is quiet enough that possums actually do inhabit the back yard of my home. They share the cats' food and sleep in the garage during the winter when the snow flies.

Of course, other critters, such as cottontails, live here as well. All kinds of birds inhabit the trees and it is a nice place to live.
