Interesting about Billboard's Eddy Arnold release on Feburary 5, 2002. Some very well known and respected names had releases but except for one or two, Eddy Arnold had a major lable produce his CD. Does this indicate the strength of his drawing power?

TO ALL EDDY ARNOLD FANS !!!
It is my hope that all Eddy Arnold fans would send Jerry Purcell a card as he is seriously ill.  For those of you who don't know who Jerry is... he has been Eddy's manager for many years.  The latest update on Jerry's condition was that...he was in serious but stable condition as of Feb.22, 2002.  I sent cards to both today expressing my sadness for Jerry's illness. This was before I found out Eddy left for Florida yesterday and won't be back until 3-15-2002.  So I suggest all cards sent to Eddy on Jerry's behalf, be held up until Eddy's return from Florida.  But it would be nice if all of Eddy's Fans sent one to Jerry now !!!.  His address can be found in article on opening page...just under Juke box.  It is interesting to note, in a recent article in USA TODAY...what a truly GREAT MAN Eddy Arnold is.  In this article he states his health is "passable"....not great, but passable. But he goes on to say, more important..."I want to give my wife the rest of my life"....she's !
been at home MANY MANY YEARS.!!!  In another article he states his secretary since 1964 Roberta Edging, should be in "THE Hall Of Fame."  These two article's show you just what Eddy is made of.   But then all you Eddy fans already know that. "We the "Committee" headed by Frank Cunningham, request you endorse Eddy for The Kennedy Art Center Award.   All we need is a short Email from you endorsing Eddy so we may add your name to our on going list. Please click on 4th article under Juke box for Frank Cunninghams address, or send it to me.  Eddy has put out another CD of song's recorded in the 1970's some songs never before released.  This is a 16 track CD called "Looking Back"... this is a great CD every Eddy Arnold Fan should own.   You can order it right from this web site...just look for the link and listed 16 song track. Or it can also be ordered from Barnes & Noble @  www.bn.com   Lets help Eddy score big with this CD and show the World who the GREATEST SINGER truly is.

Those fans wishing to send Jerry a card... I will type out his address for you. Send cards to:
Mr. Jerry Purcell
New York Hospital Medical Center Of Queens

Dear Mr. Reese:
I want to thank you for your help in our effort to contact Mr. Ralph Emery.
Our organization was formed just prior to the New Year to help Dr. Richard Edward (Eddy) Arnold attain his just Honors from The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
Eddy has tremendous support in the industry and as our enclosed press releases indicates CMA and ACM are firmly behind Eddy’s nomination. We also have Governor Sundquist, Congressman Clement and the rest of the Tennessee House delegation, Senator Bill Frist and Senator Fred Thompson and my local congressman Todd Platt (PA) helping.
Your organization being international in scope has the where with all to help us. I am sure without Eddy Arnold, Nashville Tennessee would just be another city on the map. He has brought international fame to Nashville. The following quote is quite amazing:
"Again, many recordings achieved crossover success, including "Tennessee Stud", "What's He Doing In My World" and his biggest US pop hit, "Make The World Go Away", which reached number 6 in 1965 and the next year repeated the feat in the UK pop charts. Several of his albums also achieved Top 10 status in the US album charts. He appeared in several movies, including starring roles in Feudin' Rhythm and Hoedown, he even received a mention in Jailhouse Rock. He was elected to the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1966 and by the 80s he had semi-retired to his home near Nashville. RCA have assessed that his record sales are in excess of 85 million. It is quite astonishing that Elvis Presley et al. are automatically regarded as the most successful chart acts. Arnold's chart success eclipses everybody and is unlikely ever to be beaten."
--Country Music Television

Anything you can do or any leads for support you could give us would greatly be appreciated. I have enclosed a listing of our international committee. We even have Mrs. Svetlanna Peters of Spring Green WI (daughter of Joseph Stalin) supporting Eddy.

I have the Kennedy Center contact and if you would, fax numbers for Senators’ Lott, Frist and Thompson. Thank you very much for your help.

Sincerely,

Frank Cunningham

Dear Mr. Emery:
After seeing you on the Century of Country, CMT television show last night and hearing your wonderful statements about Dr, Richard Edward (Eddy) Arnold including paraphrased "Eddy Arnold was country's first Super Star and he was the Perry Como of country", I thought this is the gentleman we must ask to support our cause for Eddy. By the way I never missed your TNN show when it was on.

As the CMT TV show indicated, It was Eddy and Chet Atkins who made Nashville the international city it is today.

Hello Bill:
My name is Michael Anthony and I am a radio host at WHPC 90.3FM.  The  station covers New York City and Long Island.  I have hosted a successful  jazz/standards program since 1996 and I was recently asked by my program  director to take over the reins of our Country Show, which airs several  nights per week.
The original program featured little in the way of classic country music and the first thing I did was to prominently feature country music from the  1940's-70's.  The listener response has been tremendous!
I am a seasoned interviewer of more than 150 recording artists.  I wanted to begin having country artists as guests and I thought the #1 country artist  of all-time was the best place to start.

I realize Mr. Arnold is retired and that his manager has taken ill.   However, I wanted to get your feelings about the possibilities of talking  with Mr. Arnold.  May I have his office phone number?  I would not call  until his manager recovers.

I want to compliment you on your web site.  It is truly wonderful.  I have always enjoyed Eddy's music and I truly respect his songwriting abilities.

I never realized that he was not honored by the Kennedy Center.  He is truly overdue for that honor.  He should also be inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Michael Anthony

Subject: Nancy Richardson's efforts in Tennessee
Eddy Arnold fans:
Below is Nancy Richardson's description of her efforts.  All the phone calls we make get positive results.
Have you contacted your Senators yet?  You might want to touch bases with your Congressman also?  I contacted mine and he got a very quick response from a liaison at the Kennedy Center.  The good part was that the "liaison" said Eddy was sure to be considered.  Whether that is PR or not, we must keep pushing.  It is also important that we can count on our own Senator and Congressman as part of the Eddy Arnold team to get him honored.  Plus you are their constituents and the politicos get back to you quickly.
I am sure the Center is getting many letters etc. from the fans.
Hi Frank,
I called Thompson's and Frist's offices this morn. I left my phone number at both offices as no one knew who was dealing with the KC.  Bob Davis, office supervisor at Thompson's office called me back.  He said that their office has been with us from the beginning, when we sent the first letters and faxes.  He was a nice guy to talk to.  His parents were both avid Eddy Arnold fans and he believes as I do that Eddy is a great singer and great man and said they will give us all of the help they can. He said the aid in charge of the KCH is, Charlotte Jackson.  Frist's office never called back, could be that the person in charge isn't in today or they haven't figured out who it is yet.
There are quite a few letters going out to the KC from Tn.  The oldest lady in our Bible study group called me last night to make sure she wrote what we wanted at the bottom of the letter.  Hopefully there will be a good response from the other states as I think the KC said they take the response from the public into consideration.
Sincerely,
Nancy

Hi!
Froggy's DRIVE THRU & RENEW was a huge success - maybe you saw the coverage
on Channel 50. More than 50 couples renewed their marriage vows.  It was great to see
people of all ages turn out.  Pastor Andy said at first he thought it was kind of a joke, but it turned out to be a wonderful, emotional and inspiring experience.  Look for pictures in the next few days on the Web at froggy929.com.
Last week I forgot to put the name of Miss Froggy 2002 in my note to you. So I want to make sure you know it's Christina Davlin from Mountain View.
Christina hopes to be a model and right now she's looking for work.  She's got long brown hair and looks great in her Wranglers.
Tomorrow is National Blood Donor Day at Saturn of Santa Rosa in the Corby Auto Mall.  Come on out and help - Froggy will be there broadcasting live
from 2PM until 4PM.
Chely "Single White Female" Wright is Lon Helton's guest on Country
Countdown USA, Sunday morning from 7A until 10A.  She'll sing her new song, "Jezebel."
I've got Disney on Ice tickets to give away, starting Monday morning with the Senseless Survey.
Don't miss Ann Phibian's workday kickoff, every weekday at 10 AM.  And now Ann Phibian not only plays your favorite songs, but she's got a chance for you to win lunch.
Have a good weekend, stay dry and don't forget that umbrella.

Good work Don:
I am contacting the Harrisburg Patriot and see if they will do a feature.  If I have to interviewed, so be it.   I would love to get something in print about our efforts as it would make a fantastic PR piece.  I will approach it from the human interest side.
By the way, if you are into dogs, the poodle that won the Westminster Kennel club the other night is from around my neighborhood,  His owners live about a mile away in Mechanicsburg, PA.

To Editor ~   As part of a "Committee" headed by Frank Cunningham I respectfully ask for your consideration in the following matter.   Please click on attachment to read more on this labor of love story as it unfolds.  I would ask you, to please click on first URL....which is an article published by ABC NEWS.com radio.  After clicking on this...link will take you to ABC NEWS radio page where you will find a picture of Eddy.
This is located 9 pictures down on left side of screen.  When clicked on it will tell you part of a long list of accomplishments this Ambassador To Country Music has accomplished.  At bottom of this page you will see www.eddyarnold.com  this link will take you to Bill Comer's GREAT web site.  We the "Committee" will leave it up to your judgement as to what you think.  I just like to state article says, He charted 146 times....make that 148".  When with Lee Ann Rimes he charted in late 1999 and again carried over and charted with same "Cattle Call Song"....In 2000    Making him the ONLY singer Country or Pop...dead or alive to ever accomplish this.
We the "Committee", sincerely ask you to endorsed Dr. Eddy Arnold....as possibly print and article on him in your newspaper.  If you need an interview, Frank Cunningham our "Committee" Chairman would be more than happy to oblige.   His Email address can be found on www.eddyarnold.com  or contact me.  In closing Eddy once recently said, "They must think I'm going to die...with all these Awards bestowed upon me."     Please don't wait for him to die....before he receives the Kennedy Art Center Award...he so richly deserves...and our "Committee" is seeking.    Thanking you in advance.   Don. His name is Greg and he is THE biggest fan of Mr. Eddy Arnold I have ever met.  Lately he insists that he used to (30 years ago) own an album, which  featured a picture of Mr. Arnold in a green plaid shirt and the name of it  was " Turn the World Around". We (his support workers) do not know whether    he is mistaken or does this album exist?  I realize that you are a busy man, but any information would be greatly appreciated. Please excuse my grammar as english is not my first language.       Thank You again for Greg,

Whenever I was in NY City I would visit him in his office and always had dinner at his Restaurant. Jerry let us go back stage after every show. Sometimes he would tell us where they would be going after the show and of course we would go there and that gave us the opportunity to chat with them. Twice he picked up our check. Met him 30 years ago and saw Eddy perform at least once a year till Eddy retired and he called us Family! What a great guy! I have him in my thoughts and prayers every day. I have listened to and enjoyed Eddy's music since the 1940's. I have always thought he was the greatest singer of all. I sure think he deserves the Kennedy Center Honors. I have most of his music and listen to it real often. Thanks a lot Eddy, Amos Baker

Dear Bill,
"Don't ever take the ribbons from your hair"
I am writing this in blue because that is how I feel. I have searched the web for all of Eddy's catalogue of recordings, it seems that all the available CD's of the moment do not include this song, unless I'm mistaken, perhaps you may be able to advise me of a recording that includes the above song. I believe that it may have been released in 1952 or 1957 on the R.C.A. label. I would be grateful if you could give me a catalogue number for a CD that includes this song.
I look forward to your reply.
Yours truly, Pete Rouse UK Fan.

Hi, I can remember as a child, living in NJ, in the 40's, my parents taking me to Sleepy Hollow Ranch, but cannot remember where it was located. I do remember seeing Eddy Anold there with guests. It was so neat. All outside where we sat on benches to hear the music and enjoying it so much. What a treat to be able to remember how much I loved Eddy's music and still do.  Please help on any info about Sleepy Hollow. Thanks.Diane

Diane:  I can't help you about Sleepy Hollow.  Maybe one of Eddy's fans will read this and be able to help you.

Bill,
I have been trying to locate a CD or tape with the song Molly on it.  Thirty years ago I had a record by Eddy Arnold with that song and would love to have a copy of it.  I have bought several of his recordings, but I cannot find that song.  It is about a blind man singing to Molly.  If you have any information on this, please let me know.
Thanks,
Blanche Trumps

Blanche:  This beautiful song is one of my favorites.  It's from the album "Folk Song Book" which was released in 1964 by RCA LPM/LSP 2811.  The song has been released on at least two CDs.  I'll check it out and email you.

Dear Bill,
Why was the song "Whats He Doing In My World" not included on Eddy's new album, "Looking Back"? My father, the late Eddie Bush, was the co-writer of that song, which was one of Mr.Arnold's greatest hits.  Thank You,
Lisa Bush Webb

Lisa: I agree it's a beautiful song.  I can't answer your question.  I do know that Eddy personally picked the songs to be released on "Looking Back" which will be released on February 05, 2002.  Bill Comer

In 1958, Eddy sang with our group while he was in Tampa, FL staying at the Floridan Hotel during the spring training of "his" Nashville Baseball team at Brooksville, FL. He graciously sang September Song and Cattle Call for our Audience. It was one of our biggest thrills. He was and I'm sure still is, a "nice" person.

Subject: Radio PR
Hi:  I could use some help...if you have some spare time?  Following is the URL for a radio station locator.  You visit it and up will come a box to put the city/state in.  I tried it and it gives you the radio stations in your area.  You can get as many stations as you wish as there is a box for the miles you desire.  Look for country stations, click them on, locate an email address.  Some stations have it visible while others do not.  Go to the radio personalities and click them on.  The majority have email addresses.  Make sure you send to the morning person and if possible, the program manager.  you can to all if you wish.  After the URL address I have printed the press release to use.  In the subject area put "AMC & CMA supports Eddy Arnold"
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/locate?select=city&city=Harrisburg&state=PA&band=Both&is_lic=Y&is_cp=Y&is_fx=Y&is_fb=Y&format=unk&dx=3&radius=50&freq=&sort=Freq
Following is PR.  Just right hand click on it and copy then click it on each email you send.  Thanks,  Frank

Hello Don Stewart,
I first sent my message as an email to Bill Comer and then he put it in the guest book.
I wasn't much of an effort for me to list the tracks on the new CD - I did simply copy the listing directly from the CDUniverse website. No typing at all.
I live in Norway and Bill and I have been email buddies for a couple of years now.  Bill has been very helpful to me and thanks to him I have been able to acquire several CD-collections that is sold to US residents only.
I only have an email here where I work, so I don't have access to my email on Saturday and Sunday.
Wish you a nice weekend.
Best wishes,
Rune Olav Vetaas
