Subject: Eddy's Brothers
Hi,
I am trying to find out any information about
Eddy Arnold's brothers. I was just informed that my father is Eddy's brother,
JB.
Unfortunately, I can't find any information
about him anywhere. If he has/had a brother JB, can you please tell me
anything at all about him.
I was born in 1955 in Tacoma, WA .. so the
union between my mother and he would had to have taken place sometime in
late 954.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Like so many others Eddy Arnold's music has
been a constant in my life - happy days and sad ones his songs spoke to
us all. In addition to his talent he is a decent and honourable man
in a world that doesn't seem to have many of those left. May the
Lord bless him and his loved ones always.

Comments:
Eddy was and still is one of the best classic
country/western singers. Eddy has a unique voice and style that, like many
of the early singers, made him one of the greatest. I just wish Nashville
could promote uniqueness in singers and songs today rather than promote
the profit margins. For the most part, today's Nashville music all sounds
the same and for that reason Nashville is not producing great music that
will be long lived, such as those songs that Eddy and others have done
so well in the past and will always be remember!

Wonderful Jerry!
God has put us on earth to fulfill His plan.
He has given us certain talents and gifts. Unfortunately, most people do
not fulfill their talents and use their gifts properly. In Eddy's case
he has fulfilled God's plan for him. Eddy has the talent to sing, the gift
to love his fellow man. No one is loved unless he is loving...and Eddy
proves that statement.

WHY I LIKE EDDY!
That is a hard question to answer. Having
been a die hard fan of his for 57 years now and being raised in a musical
enviroment; its like trying to say which you love better, the sun coming
up or the sun going down on a misty valley. Mr Arnold is truly the most
acomplished performer in his profession and all his awards attest to that;
the love and happiness he has shared with all his millions of fans over
all the years are truly remarkable. He has set a Standard of what a vast
majority of entertainers could only dream of; to gauge themselves by. I
remember Mr. Arnold as a child in the mid-40s in Atlanta and he was just
as nice and kind then as he is now. I have known a lots of Country Performers
and I've never heard not one say a 'Bad word about Eddy Arnold'. I have
never sent Mr. Arnold a Birthday card or a Christmas card; that I didnt
later on; get a 'Thank You Note' from him for Remembering him. Now Friends
thats [Loyalty To Your Fans]If I had to sum it up shortly why 'I like Eddy
Arnold' "He's a First Class Man that was raised right and never forgot
where he came from and how he got there" God Bless Eddy Arnold, Sincerely:

Who at my door is standing
Patiently drawing near
Entrance within demanding
Who is the voice I hear
Sweetly the tones are falling
Open the door for me
If thou will heed my calling
I will abide with thee
Lonely without he's standing
Lonely within am I
While I am still delaying
Will he not pass me by
Sweetly the tones are falling
Open the door for me
If thou will heed my calling
I will abide with thee

The lyrics to "Make The World Go Away" are
as follows: Bill Comer
Make the world go away
And get it off my shoulders
Say the things you used to say
And make the world go away
Do you remember when you loved me
Before the world took me astray
If you do then forgive me
And make the world go away
Make the world go away
And get it off my shoulder
Say the things you used to say
And make the world go away
I'm sorry if I hurt you
I'll make it up day by day
Just say you love me
Like you used to
And make the world go away
Make the world go away
And get it off my shoulders
Say the things you use to say
And make the world go away
Say the things you used to say

I have attached a file of Ed Benson's letter
on behalf of Eddy. It is similar to many of the endorsement letters
that have been sent in. It should be addressed to James A. Johnson
at the Kennedy Center. The key word to be used is "selected".
We already know that Eddy will be "considered". His fans will not take
kindly to just "thinking" about Eddy. This honor is long overdue.
Any words you can use will be greatly appreciated
by his international fans.
BTW, I had sent you a letter with some of

Why I like Eddy is not an easy question to
answer for there are so many reasons. The man has the ability to
bring a tear to my eye or a smile to my face depending on the song he is
singing. He has a voice like no one else in this world, so sincere, so
beautiful and so clear. Many singers have impersonated other stars
but I have never heard anyone try to do Eddy and the simple reason is they
can't. He is unique and simply can't be copied. I love love songs and the
one person in this world that sings them the way I like them is Eddy Arnold
which is one of the many reasons why I like Eddy. Furthermore having
seen many of his performances I come to realize that he is one of the most
polished entertainers in the business, humble but always in command of
his music and the audiences. Eddy Arnold is a fine human being who
appreciates his roots, where he come from, how he got to where he is now
and all the fans who have enjoyed his music all these years.

WHY I LIKE EDDY!
Well, here are the reason why I really and
truly love the man and his music so much. I first started listening to
him when I was only 12 years old and from then on, I have been hooked.
The very first song I ever heard him do was Make The World Go Away and
oh, I immediately fell in love with that great great voice that nobody
else could possibly match. I think Eddy is truly one of country music's
most greatest artists in the world and I am only a 17 year old blind boy.
It is unusual for someone my age to appreciate this wonderful talent of
Mr. Arnold and no other country artist has charted 145 singles. He is truly
a wonderful man and in my opinion, his music will never die out. It will
always live on and on forever and I thank the lord each day that I have
been a fan of Eddy for almost 4 years.
Most sincerely yours, Maheen.

I think you should contact Bill Winstead and
have him write an article to the Washington Post. He's a superb writer
of the first caliber. It should be a letter to the paper's editor
telling why Eddy deserves it and question why not Eddy. If they are
about honoring the best what's the deal. It needs to be factual through

WHY I LIKE EDDY!
I can remember listening to the radio when
as a teenager, some fifty years ago. The one song that stands out
was "Bouquet of Roses" by Eddy Arnold. My older sister even bought
the record and sheet music. My family would stand around the piano
and sing all the country western songs. As I grew older and away
from the home, I lost touch with all that kind of music. In 1965
I was in New Jersey, Asbury Park, and went to see Eddy Arnold in concert.
I heard "Make The World Go Away", and was thrilled. Now that I have
retired for the third time, I have a CD player in my car and the first
CD I found was Eddy Arnold. I now have 18 of them. From the
Bill Comer web site I discovered more about DR. Arnold and feel he is the
epitome of his kind of music. I also learned how he has become, like
so many great Americans, a man that had a dream, and fulfilled it.
He started out from a poor, but honorable family, and KEPT his integrity
and excellent values even though he became rich !
and famous. Not many of our newer stars
can truly say this. He has shown consideration and love of his fellow
man, and still succeeded. He deserves any and all awards available.

proudly say that all of my seven grandchildren also love Eddy Arnold's
music. Eddy is considerate of his fans, he appreciates them, he is devoted
to them and he is simply a good and kind individual. In summary,
I love the man and his music.

contacted me
ORIGINAL MESSAGE
In going through the album collection of my
recently deceased father-in-law, I discovered a 1966 "I Want To Go
With You" (LPM-3507). If there is an Eddy Arnold fan
that would like this album, they could email me with an offer. I
would consider the album to be in good condition. The disk itself
seems fine, there is no plastic or paper sleeve, the cover is a bit yellowed
on the back. Let me know if you think there is a buyer out there for this
album.

Subject: A tribute to Eddy Arnold
Hello Bill,
Let me introduce myself. My name is Léo
Beaulieu. I reside in a small town just south of Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
As of late, I have been corresponding with
Frank Cunningham. I have helped him the best I could in contacting the
various French and English radio stations that hosted 'country music' and
sent each and every one of them a copy of the request of the letter to
have Eddy promoted/recognized by the Kennedy Center.
I must have sent out 30 odd e-mails.
I have also sent Frank a copy of a one page
tribute to Eddy Arnold for the 3 ring binder he is preparing. He was delighted
with it and said that he will include it in the binder.
He suggested that I should mail you a copy
as well, which is included in this here e-mail as an attachment.
Thank you for all your efforts,
Truly yours,
Léo

Dear Mr. Johnson:
It is with pleasure that I write to recommend
that the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts honor Dr. Richard Edward
(Eddy) Arnold.
Dr. Arnold received the honorary degree, Doctor
of Fine Arts, from Washington College in 2001 in recognition of his long
and distinguished career. His music has been on the country music charts
for seven decades. He was honored by membership in the Country Music Hall
of Fame and received the National Medal of Arts from President Bill Clinton.
We hope that you will give serious consideration
to honoring Eddy Arnold.

Subject: Letter from Senators
Hi Frank,
I got a GREAT!!! letter in the mail today.
Since I don't have a fax I will type them for you. The first one
is to me from Thompson's office these letters are an effort of both senators.
Dear Ms. Richardson,
I am pleased to share with you the correspondence
that Senators Thompson and Frist have forwarded to the Kennedy Center on
behalf of Eddy Arnold. On behalf of Senators Thompson and Frist,
many thanks for continuing to focus our energies on honoring Eddy Arnold.
He is indeed most deserving.

The second letter is addressed to both James
A. Johnson and Michael M. Kaiser.
Dear Messrs Johnson and Kaiser:
We are writing to respectfully renew our strong
support for the nomination of Mr. Eddy Arnold of Tennessee for the 2002
Kennedy Center Honors. Mr. Arnold's career spanned 21 years and sold
85 million records. Mr. Arnold, "The Tennessee Plowboy," pioneered
the crossover of country music to popular music with his hit recordings
of timeless classics, "Anytime," {1947} and ,"Bouquet of Roses," (1948}.
Mr. Arnold was among the first country artists
to appear at Carnegie Hall; appear regularly with major symphonies across
the nation; host a major network special; and make a feature appearance
on network television {Milton Berle Show in 1949}. He has been honored
by the Songwriters Guild and the Country Music Association as Entertainer
of the Year.
A giant of American music, Eddy Arnold recorded
58 consecutive top ten country hits between his debut in 1945 and 1954,
and made no recording in the first 21 years of his career that failed
to make the top 40 on the charts. His career spanned five decades
and featured two classics as late as 1965, i.e., "Make the World go Away"
and "What's He Doing in MY World."
Eddy Arnold is a great artist and a man of
warmth, humility, and frugality. Eddy Arnold had distinguished himself,
his home state of Tennessee, and America as worldwide ambassador of country
music. Kennedy Center Honors would be accordingly most fitting.
We recommend Eddy Arnold for your consideration without reservation.
Sincerely,
Fred Thompson

Dear Mr. Johnson:
Senator Trent Lott has notified me that he
has contacted you regarding Dr. Richard Edward (Eddy) Arnold’s nomination
for The Kennedy Center Honors. I also have a letter from Mr. Michael
M. Kaiser assuring Eddy’s fans of Eddy being considered as a candidate.
We appreciate their responses but it is not
consideration for Eddy that we seek but his actual selection for the Honors.
His fan base age demographic is between 65
and 85 years old. Eddy’s age is 83. As of the 1998 census,
there were 34,401,132 people in that age bracket. If 1% of the population
were Eddy Arnold fans, it would be 300,000. We know from our international
contacts that number is small in numbers of fans for Eddy Arnold.
The Eddy Arnold Web site has over 130,000 hits and many of the senior citizens
are not computer literate. I also know these figures are true as
I have in my possession several thousand email and snail mail letters seeking
Eddy’s Honors. And our committee receives these letters without much
effort. As I am sure your office is receiving many letters from his
fans I would not burden you with this load at this time.
Consideration is appreciated but at mid year,
Eddy’s fans will definitely want to see his selection. As we are
not getting any younger, neither is Eddy Arnold.
To this point in time your selections have
been admirable but in no way do some measure up to Eddy’s impact on the
performing arts’ international industry. I enclose a statement by
an industry source:
Who is the best singer in the history of country
music? According to stars like Johnny Cash, Tex Ritter and Marty Robbins,
the answer is Eddy Arnold.
Unquestionably, no other performer has been
more responsible for taking country music from its rural roots to widespread
acceptance than Eddy Arnold
CountryPolitan, 2001
Do I notice some who have been honored in the
past?
There is additional evidence we will be producing
that should make it mandatory for the selection committee to select Dr.
Richard Edward (Eddy) Arnold. Our committee knows you will do your
utmost to have Eddy honored in the year 2002.
Sincerely,
Frank Cunningham

Dear Doris:
I received a letter from Michael Kaiser, President
of the Center. "Please be assured that Mr. Arnold will be considered as
a candidate for the Kennedy Cener Honors in 2002" This was after a sentence
on how the selection committee works.
I received a second letter today from Sen.
Trent Lott. He thanks us for keeping him informed of our doings and said
he has contacted James A.Johnson, Chairman, Kennedy Center regarding this
matter. He said "IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH MR. JOHNSON
REGARDING THIS MATTER".
I capitalize the previous sentence as to its
importance. Being considered is not enough. We must keep after Johnson
as we WANT A SELECTION NOT A CONSIDERATION.
The Kaiser letter was not sepcific on dates
but did indicate mid-year. That would put it about June? So we have about
2 1/2 months to keep up the pressure.
Send in your letters to Mr. Johnson.

Frank Cunningham is correct, we dont want
Eddy Arnold "considered for the Kennedy Center Honors". WE want him selected
period!!!!!!!!!Anything less would be a slap in both Eddy's face and the
country music industry as a whole. I want the world to know of his
incredible career. His accomplishments are quite astonishing.
Here we have a man who quite frankly the King of the Billboard charts.
If that was all it would be enough!! But he has achieved far beyond
that. I think the nation needs to know that before the age of crass
commercialism there was real talent. People that made it because
of there god given talents. Not just because they look good in tight
jeans or clothing way too revealing!!! I would like to think he will
win. Only time will tell.

Hi Frank,
I am so glad that Kyle Young of Country Music
Hall of Fame will help us!!! The more country music institutions
behind us the better.
I had a funny thing happen to me yesterday.
I had to drive to a small town south of Nashville and while I was there
I stopped to visit with an elderly friend that lives alone. She loves
company and can talk for 15 minutes straight without catching her breath.
I had a couple of petitions in the van and because the lady is a native
Tennessean I thought she would know who Eddy was, to be sure I asked her,"do
you know who Eddy Arnold is?" Somehow she thought that I wanted to
know who Eddy Arnold was. When I got my computer a friend gave me
a book called, The Internet for Dummies. This dear little lady
commenced to give me a brief oral biography of, Eddy Arnold for Dummies.
She told me where he was born, some of his accomplishments, and his best
known songs, ending up telling me that I should get some of his music,
she was sure that I would like him. I did feel like a dummie because
I knew I should have stopped her and explained the confusion, but I was
enjoying her talk to much. When I finally did explain we both laughed
and she gladly signed the petition.
Good idea to sign your name and e-mail to
the radio PR's, also the senders name and e-mail. That way someone
may be notified if the station says something about the PR's.

I would say he produced more songs for Eddy...than and other artist.
Yet they put him in a class with..."and others". SHAME on them!!!!
As I stated....out of the 16 songs on the CD...12 are produced by Chet
Atkins.
I just counted 86 sessions Chet produced for
Eddy {source....Michael Streissgurt..Pioneer Of The Nashville Sound} and
that was a fast count. Not even Sholes... H. Bradley..O. Bradley
or the rest produced more sessions than Chet. I have always

I have another lead for you. You have

Peggy at CMA and she said that the CMA basically ran the Hall of Fame but
they were two different organizations with their own books and board of
directors. She said to call, Kyle Young, Director of Hall of Fame,
phone (615) 416-2045 and ask him for an endorsement. We talked
for awhile, she knows Eddy quite well and called him a sweetie. She
also said she thought we would have a lot of competition for the honors.
I told her that we were still trying to get Ed Benson on the nominating
committee and she said that would be a great asset. I did write to
Michael Kaiser at KC the end of last week and said much the same
as you did, just changed it enough so it didn't look like a form letter.

Jodie,
"Meet Me At the Altar" was on the "Lonely
Again" album. That album is out of print now, but you can probably
find a used copy for sale on ebay. Good luck, Larry

I enjoyed your site, Eddy Arnold's music has
been part of my life from a little girl. I grew up listening to him and
now he is in my home. His music is wonderful, and he is a wonderful person.
There was a song that he sang long ago called "Meet me at the altar" that
I have been searching for. Any ideas where I might find it?

To Editor ~ As part of a
"Committee" headed by Frank Cunningham I respectfully ask for your consideration
In the following matter. Please click on attachment to read
more on this labor of love story as it unfolds. I would ask you,
to please click on first URL....which is an article published by ABC NEWS.com
radio. After clicking on this...link will take you to ABCNEWS radio
page where you will find a picture of Eddy.
This is located 9 pictures down on left side
of screen. When clicked on it will tell you part of a long list of
accomplishments this Ambassador Of Country Music has accomplished.
At bottom of this page you will see www.eddyarnold.com
this link will take you to Bill Comers GREAT web site. We the "Committee"
will leave it up to your judgment as to what you think. I'd just
like to state article says, He charted 146 times....make that 148.
When with Lee Ann Rimes he charted in late 2000 and again carried over
and charted with same "Cattle Call Song"....In 2001 Making
him the ONLY singer, Country or Pop...dead or alive to ever accomplish
this. Seven straight decades of having a record on the
charts.
We the "Committee", sincerely ask you to endorsed
Dr. Eddy Arnold....and possibly print and article on him in your newspaper.
If you need an interview, Frank Cunningham our "Committee" Chairman would
be more than happy to oblige. His Email address can be found
on www.eddyarnold.com or contact me. In closing
Eddy once recently said, "They must think I'm going to die...with all these
Awards bestowed upon me." Please don't wait for
him to die....before he receives the Kennedy Art Center Award...he so richly
deserver...and our "Committee" is seeking. Thanking you
in advance.

Bill--
I heard that at one time Eddy had sold more
records than any other person. Is this correct?

I grew up with Eddy Arnold music and still
love it! I know that when I or my children or grandchildren listen
to his music, we don't have to be embarrassed by the lyrics. Last
week I took my two 6 year old granddaughters on a drive. My Eddy
Arnold c.d. was playing and my oldest granddaughter (Jessica) kept going
through the songs to listen to her favorites. It's just good entertainment,
no matter how old you are. There is a big difference between "What's He
Doing in My World" and "I Want Your Sex".
