Welcome to my
Garth page!
Here's my story about Garth Brooks
I never used to like country. In fact, I used to hate it. Whenever country music came over the radio, I would plug my ears and start sing to myself. i don't know what made me so closed minded about it, but something did. Anyway, three things happened to open me up to country music, and especially Garth.
First, a good friend of mine named Andrew (now living in Utah) forced me to listen to country whenever I went over to his house or whenever he had a walkman at school. He would say "Come on Mike. It's not that bad. Here, listen to this, it's by Garth Brooks." I would then be forced to listen to country.
Second, my family planned a huge vacation to Viriginia, and we would be driving cross country (I live in Southern California), and can you guess the only stations that would come in, from New Mexico to Kentucky? You got it. I decided during that trip that country wasn't so bad, and I even chose some country on the jukeboxes scattered throughout the truckstops (Joe Diffie's "Pickup Man" and John Michael Montgomery's "I swear" were my particular favorites).
Lastly, I bought Garth Brooks' "The Hits". I had no idea how great his (and ALL country) music was until I began to listen to his CDs. These reasons are why I am such a Garth fan now.
