Here is a little about Patsy's younger life. She was born September 8, 1932 in Winchester, Virginia. Her parents were Samual Lawrence Hensley (who died of lung cancer in 1956) and Hilda Patterson Hensley (who lives in Winchester today). Patsy was born Virginia Patterson Hensley. Pasty's mom married Sam at the young age of 13. She was 16 when Patsy was born. Shortly after Patsy was born the family moved to Elkton. When Patsy was in the eighth grade the family moved back to Winchester. Sam left the family in 1947. Patsy had no contact with her father from 1947 until 1956 when he was admitted to a hospital in West Virginia for lung cancer. He died December 11,1956 and never heard his daughter sing.
Patsy's changing of her name from Virginia was suggested by Bill Peer, a man who helped her with her career in the beginning. She married Gerald Cline in 1953 and thus became the one and only PATSY CLINE . Patsy and Gerald had no children. She met Charlie Dick for the first time at a local dance in 1956. She later divorced Gerald and married Charlie in 1957. They had two children, Julie in 1958 and Randy in 1961.
