Josh Meade of Chesapeake, VA is one of Flatland’s newest members and our banjo player. He will be a senior this year at Western Branch High School. Josh has been playing the violin in the school orchestra for seven years and recently had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the school Orchestra. He has also participated in various competitions and workshops throughout his school career. Although Josh has had formal instruction on the violin with the orchestra, he is self taught on all the other instruments. He plays the fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bass and most importantly the banjo, which is his first love. He has also been known to sing a little now and then. He also teaches these instruments at a local music store.
He began his bluegrass music playing as a member of another local area bluegrass band as their banjo player. Josh has enjoyed meeting other people who share the same love of bluegrass music and has made many close friendships with many of the people he’s met. He joined the Flatland Bluegrass Band in February 2008 and FBB is pleased to have him as a member and know he be a welcome asset to the group.
