This site was first launched in June 1997 and is still under heavy construction.
As far as Doc Watson is concerned, it started as an (occasionally annotated)
discography listing the Doc Watson recordings in my collection.
Lately, I have been adding some of the lyrics of
songs performed by him and some of the stories
told by Doc in concert, and several links to other Doc Watson
sites.
Another part of this site was added as a tribute to what I believe to be
the greatest American songwriter (although "somewhat
controversial"), Woody Guthrie, in memory
of the 20th anniversary of his death on Oct 3, 1967.
Over the next few months, these pages will hopefully become closely interlinked
with my BOB DYLAN
MUSICAL ROOTS and my
HISTORY IN SONG sites, with many more song lyrics, background info,
historical photographs etc. being added.
If you know of any Doc Watson recordings which I do not have or which
I may have overlooked and/or omitted, please feel free to send me a message.
Other feedback (including transcribed lyrics,
scans of pictures that you would allow me to use, etc.) is equally appreciated.
I'm always interested in tape trades (especially
for a version of Bob Dylan's "Buckets of Rain" performed by Doc Watson...
grovel, grovel), but sometimes I'm kinda slow in answering email -- and a
recent hard-disk crash wiped out the trading lists, email addresses, of the
people who contacted me already.
So, if you're still interested, please contact me again.
not necessarily Doc Watson related, but another hobby of mine... again, just
a start...
Due to continued and growing interest in this part of my site, it was moved
to a separate new location -- lots of graphics added (historical photographs, etc.) -- disable your browser's automatic picture loading if you're interested in the lyrics alone.
