In the 50s, he refused to testify before Joseph McCarthy's witch-hunting Senate committee, and was therefore victim of
blacklisting, but he later went on to have an award-winning
career writing for television.
Lampell was also, I believe, a producer of the Guthrie tribute concerts in the late 60s. (Dylan,
as you know, appeared at the NY concert.)

He was a writer who had been blacklisted. In a rather classy move, when
he won an Emmy several years ago, he said something in his acceptance
speech to the effect that "I don't know if this is the right place for
this or not, but I was blacklisted for years."
I'm paraphrasing, but it
was a great moment in awards shows.
Someone out there probably knows the
exact quote.
He was also one of the founders of the Almanac Singers.
