28 years public school (7 years as a high school and junior high band director)and private teaching experience
I currently have 30 students, ages 6 to adult
My studio is in the lower level of my home and has a private entrance
I teach on a Steinway grand, but also use an electronic keyboard,a digital keyboard, a synthesizer, a sound module , a drum machine, computers, and a CD player.
My favorite software for my studio:
The Pianist by PG Music - a favorite with my students. They listen to professional performances of classical repertoire. This program also includes composer biographies and a music dictionary. Unfortunately, PG Music no longer sells this program. They do have many other great music programs.
Music Ace by Harmonic Vision - wonderful for reinforcement of music theory and for ear training. Also contains great links for music education.
Band in a Box by PG Music - great for creating accompaniments for students pieces
Finale by Coda Music - a music publishing program - Students can download a free version of this program (called Notepad) and open and print any file you make and give them from the full version.
