BlackHawk, the most successful trio in country music history, has sold 3 million albums and had twelve consecutive top 30 hits over the past four years. Their debut album BlackHawk has sold two million copies alone, and their sophomore album Strong Enough has sold one million copies and its debut was the highest in the history of Soundscan, and the highest for a country group since Alabama's The Closer You Get was released in 1983. Their current album is appropriately titled Love and Gravity and showcases the band's most progressive work to date. BlackHawk is comprised of lead vocalist Henry Paul, keyboardist and low harmony voice Dave Robbins, and of course, Van Stephenson.

Van, the high harmony voice and acoustic guitarist of BlackHawk, has contributed to the group's success in many ways, including his songwriting. Songs Van has written for BlackHawk include the number one single "Every Once In A While," singles "Almost A Memory Now" and "Hole In My Heart," and album cuts "One More Heartache," "Stone By Stone," "Let 'Em Whirl," "Bad Love Gone Good," "A Kiss Is Worth A Thousand Words," "Stepping Stones," "It Ain't About Love Anymore," "If That Was A Lie," and "She Dances With Her Shadow."
