We were born Christmas eve, 1940, in
Madison, TN, a suburb of Nashville. That's
the old homeplace on Campbell Road behind us.
My Dad was one of the nicest men who ever
lived.
He died at age 50 in 1960 from a heart
condition created by
scarlet fever when he was a young man.
Dad worked for the city waterworks, wrote songs,
sold real estate,
but most of all, I remember that he took me fishing often and was the best friend I ever had.
I still miss him terribly.
Mom was a nurse all her adult life until she retired
about 25 years ago. She was a nurturing
mother who kept a close watch on her brood. Although she has diabetes and isn't quite as active
as she once was, Mom's still a great cook at age 89, and still nurtures her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the most special ways.
Robin is at top right. She has two sons, Ryan and Josh,
and a daughter, Brooke.
Michelle is at bottom left. She is married to 'Bo' Poe, a
construction superintendent. Michelle gave birth May 5, 1997,
to daughter, Reagan, giving older daughter, Kayla, a real
baby to play with.
Last, but certainly not least, is Mac, the only McPherson
boy of his generation. Mac's an award-winning
firefighter-EMT
for the Nashville Fire Department. He's
6'4" and about 250
pounds now, and just turned 31. He also does home construction work when he's not putting out fires. He is married
to Vickie Huff. Like me, he enjoys being the baby of the family, too.
Although their mother and I divorced in 1975, we're good friends who share pride in the kids.
Michelle, Robin, Mac and Beth.
