Petra is based in Nashville, Tenessee, USA. They have over 20 albums to date, won 3 Grammys and numerous other prestigious awards and have a strong following both in and out of the US. One of the best-supported Christian Rock bands. They are still going strong after over 25 years, and are definitely the top of Christian hard rockers.

John Schlitt

John Schlitt is a Contemporary Christian Artiste who is the lead singer of Petra. He also is a solo artiste, having had 2 solo albums to date. Considered the most powerful and distinguished voice in the Christian music industry, and with one of the greatest stage ability, he started off his career as the lead singer of Headeast, the American Rock Band. He became Petra's frontman in 1986, and has been serving faithfully in it. Heard of a certain Jon Bon Jovi? If you like Bon Jovi, you'll like Schlitt.

John has 2 solo albums to date which have been really successful. They are "Shake", produced in 1995, and "Unfit For Swine", in 1996.

KEVIN BRANDOW

Kevin Brandow, keyboardist and guitarist of PETRA, has been in the christian music scene for a long time, even before joining Petra. A soloist on his own, he is a great singer too and my opinion is that he will succeed the ageing Schlitt when the latter chooses to retire or move on. Kevin has a solo album ( below right ) just like Schlitt, called Pogostick ( I myself don't know what that means….. ) and judging from what I have heard from the few audio clips at Kevin's own homepage, I believe Pogostick sounds good.
