During the late 1970's and early 1980's, the Outlaws became one of the most important southern rock and roll bands in America recording such classics as "Hurry Sundown," "Ghostriders In The Sky" and their signature smash "Green Grass & High Tides." During their ride to the top, the Outlaws sold in excess of 7 million albums in America and sold out every arena and concert hall from California to Maine. "Soldiers Of Fortune" represents a new page in the Outlaws' distinguished career and is highlighted by the return of Henry Paul, reuniting him with lead guitarist Hughie Thomasson, both of whom are founding members. The time they spent apart working on separate careers has added the "new" Outlaws' edge and has given their first album in over three years a revitalized sound and appeal. As with all things that grow and mature, the Outlaws' sound has gotten better over time and "Soldiers Of Fortune" marks the return of American rock and roll at its very best. -L.R.S.
