Broncos Ride Elway to Super Bowl #2

(Boston, February 1, 1999) In perhaps his final game, MVP John Elway took the Denver Broncos to the top of the mountain. He fired bullets all evening, completing 18 of 29 passes for 336 yards. The surprising Atlanta Falcons fell to the Broncos by a score of 34-19, but the game was a bit more competitive than that. Falcon QB Chris Chandler had some opportunities, but the Denver defense forced three interceptions, while the Falcon defense simply could not contain Elway and his masterful running back Terrell Davis (25 carries for 102 yards).

The question now is whether Elway, still obviously at the top of his game, will give it a go for an unprecidented third straight Super Bowl victory, or hang 'em up and await the call from the Hall.

Special 1998 Superbowl Report

(Boston, January 1998) Two great teams and a tight explosive game... think it was Elway and the Broncos beating the Packers... by game time I had finished a growler of Ipswich IPA and stumbled in the direction of Ballard Bitter and Guinness Stout for the duration. And Budweiser.
