WHO SAYS, THAT "GOD IS DEAD"?

Who say's, that "God is dead"?
I talk to Him each day.
And feel His very presence,
When I bow my head to pray.
No better Friend and Keeper
Have I, than He above
Who knows what's in my heart and soul
And keeps filling them with love.
'Til hate and spite are crowded out
And can no longer hide.
And in their place compassion
And peace can just abide.
So to those, who say, "my God is dead",
I challange them and pray---
That they'll find Him very much alive,
And come back to Him someday.

The Greatest Gift OF All

Many years ago, God gave---
The greatest gift of all,
Wrapped up in swaddling clothes,
The little Saviour was so small.
Lying in that manger,
Where the cattle lowed all night.
Watched over by the angels
And a star that shone so bright---
That it guided the three wise men
To this humble spot to bring
Gifts of gold and frankincense and myrrh
To the little new-born King.
This is how and where the practice
Of Christmas-giving got it's start---
To keep this special memory
Alive within our hearts.
So, when you give a gift this Christmas,
Take time out to recall---
That special night, when God gave us
The greatest gift of all.

On Thanksgiving Day

As we gather 'round the table,
To thank the Lord above.
Let's thank Him for the many things,
He's given us to love---
Our families, friends and neighbors.
Our hobbies and our pets,
Our church, our home,---community,
And while we're at it lets---
Thank Him for the beauty of the
World in which we live;
And for the very life, to each of us,
The Lord did give.
And let's not forget to tell Him,
How we appreciate---
The good Thanksgiving dinner, that is
Heaped upon our plate.
This poem was written many years ago---regarding a "dear old lady", who shared a hosptal room with me. She and her husband were in their seventies an so devoted to one another. This reminded me so much of my own parents, especially my mother, that I was inspired to write the following:

Dear Old Lady

What is a dear old lady?
This isn't hard to state---
She's one who's filled with memories,
And even know's the date---
When she first met her husband,
Who's been faithful through the years,
And looks back on her family days
With laughter and with tears.
Although her memory comes and goes
And things just aren't too clear,
She says--just wait--it'll come to me
In just a moment dear.
And though her bones are racked with pain,
She tries her very best---
When other folks are 'round her,
To look her happiest.
She's learned to take things in her stride
And always understand,
That whatever fate may bring her,
Her life is in God's hands.
So, if you meet a "sweet old girl",
Who's as described above,
Be sure to stop and chat awhile
And give her lots of love.
