There was an old man on a park bench, in the corner of the square
Feeding the pigeons bread crumbs, on that cold December day
I asked if I could sit a while, he said he didn't care
I listened to what the old man had to say
He spoke to me of hard times and about the days gone by
Good times, that he thought would never end
But there was sadness in his voice, teardrops filled his eyes
When he turned to me and said, son do you ever wonder
Whatever happened to your best friends
The ones you could could count on, when you were feeling lonely
They always seemed to come around
And how they swore they'd be with you until the end
Guess old promices die, makes you wonder
whatever happened to The Best Of Friends
The cold of winter soon passed us by, Springtime took it's place
I stopped to see my old friend, everyday
My presence semed to fill his heart, it put a smile back on his face
But I knew that soon time would take him away
Then on a warm April morning,I stopped in to see my old friend
I could tell he knew he was living his last day
But there was that smile on his face, as he reached out for my hand
And I listened to what the old man had to say
He said you were there, when I was feeling lonely
You always seemed to come around
And now you're here with me, right up until the end
I want to thank you son
Thank you for being my Best Friend
Yes he was there, when I was feeling lonely
He always seemed to be around
We spent our time together, right up until the end
I'm sure gonna miss that old man
We will always be, The Best Of Friends
