~Haystacks & Windmills~

From February 1990

Haystacks & Windmills

I was raised a country boy, couldn’t wait to spread my wings
Tired of wearing patched up jeans, I longed for finer things
I told my Dad the city, is where I wanna be
Look out the window Dad, there’s nothing here for me to see…
And my father said to me

I see those, Haystacks & Windmills
Grassy plains and rolling hills
Tumble weeds riding’ with the wind
I know you long to leave this place
Get out and join the human race
But mark my words, you’ll be back again
Believe me you will, miss these
Haystacks & Windmills

I hopped aboard the midnight train, I was New York City bound
But my dreams of fame and fortune, were dreams I never found
New York City had no mercy, on a country boy like me
One day sent me homeward bound, still wearing my patched up jeans
I just couldn’t wait to see…

All those, Haystacks & Windmills
Grassy plains and rollin’ hills
Tumble weeds ridin’ on the wind
I once longed to leave this place
Get out and join the human race
Dad was right sayin’ I’d be back again
I just couldn't wait until, I saw those
Haystacks & Windmills

Now the farm and folks are gone
But the memories linger on
I know I what to raise my family
Out where there's

Haystacks & Windmills
Grassy plains and rollin’ hills
Tumble weeds ridin’ on the wind
When my kids long to leave this place
Get out and join the human race
Daddy's words will echo once again
Believe me you will, miss these
Haystacks and Windmills
