He see's a lone tree out there on the prairie
He feels the north wind, as it howls across the plain
He see's the storm clouds, gather in the distance
The rolling thunder, might bring a little rain
And he ponders at the way things used to be
And how they are now, well it seems so very strange
As he looks, out at that old lone tree
Say's "We're both standing strong, fighting The Wind Of Change"
The sun is slowly fading, into the end of another day
He groans a little, rocks out of his rocking chair
Says to his old dog Jay, "Boy, we'd better be gettin' in"
There's an ill wind blowing, in the cool night air
As he steps into his cabin, the fire is burning low
He adds some kindle, to brighten the flame
There's a picture above the mantle, makes his feelings start to flow
She was one special lady, that shared his name
As he turns to walk away, he wipes a tear from his eye
Looks out the window, as the lightning lights up the sky
He see's that lone tree, out there on the prairie
He feels the north wind as it howls across the plain
He see's the storm clouds gather in the distance
The rolling thunder, might bring a little rain
And he ponders at the way things used to be
And how they are now, well it seems so very strange
As he looks, out at that old lone tree
Say's "We're both standing strong, fighting The Wind Of Change"
Still standing strong, they're fighting The Wind Of Change
