Owl went to a hill and sat there and waited. Pretty soon he saw something peek over the horizon. It was his friend, Moon. He said, "I talk to you all the time and even though you never talk back, you do not leave me.... we must be good friends." So he sat and talked to moon for a very long time and then he had to be on his way back home.

So he said, "Goodbye, Moon! I must be going now, take care!" And Owl started to walk home. Moon followed him high up in the sky, and Owl said, "Moon, I do not think you understand, I have to go home now - Goodbye! I will see you tomorrow."

Owl began walking again. He then turned and looked again and Moon was still following him. Owl said, "Dear Moon you do not understand me. I do not have room for you in my house and I do not have any supper for you. You are too big to fit through my door. Please go back into the sky where you look fine."

Owl went up to the top of the hill again and shouted very loudly, "GOODBYE MOON..... GOODBYE!!!" Then Moon disappeared behind a cloud and Owl started on his way home. He thought Moon had left and then he said, "It is always so sad to say goodbye to good friends, always so sad."

He got home, put on his pajamas and lay in his bed. Owl saw a shimmering light come through his window. He ran to his window and saw his friend Moon shining down as if he had never left him. He said to Moon, "What a great friend you are to follow me until I got home. Thank you Moon."

Then Owl went to sleep knowing that his friend would never leave him as long as he lived.

Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
