Gene Skinner was born August 21, 1957 in Killeen, Texas to Gene E. Skinner (formerly of Norwalk, Ohio) and Jo Ruth (Reding) Skinner of Killeen. Gene is a 1975 Graduate of Killeen High School. His claim to fame in high school was band, staying one step ahead of the truant officer, and having the fastest truck in town. Not a very eventful childhood but things changed. On September 18, 1975 he entered Air Force basic training at Lackland AFB. He entered Fighter Maintenance Training at Sheppard AFB in November 1975, and graduated in January 1976. He was assigned to Hill AFB from February 1976 to March 1981. He visited Kunsan AB, R.O.K. for the mandantory 1 year stint from April 1981 through April 1982. He was assigned to MacDill AFB from April 1982 to March 1985, Misawa AB Japan from April 1985 to April 1988. While assigned to Shaw AFB from May 1988 until August 1990, he endured Hurricane Hugo in September 1989, was deployed to Al Dahfra AB U.A.E. in August 1990 where he participated in maintaining the aircraft delivering the air assault on Saddam Hussein's tyranical regime. In April 1991 he returned home to Bergstrom AFB. From April 1991 until September 1992 he enjoyed the feel of his home state and it's unique blend of bravado and friendliness. He was reassigned to Moody AFB from October 1992 through October 1994 where he once again was deployed to the middle east from June-Sept 1993. He now is assigned to Misawa AB, Japan. He married in March 1996 to the former Raygena Lynn Kelley (Gena) from Athens, Texas. His daughter, Donna Jo (DJ),was born Christmas eve 1995 (that's another story) and they both have given him the happiest days of his life (I Love You Babe). Gene and Gena plan to leave Japan in 1999 for ten lovely acres of the Texas Hill Country to raise DJ. Gene is currently (probably permanently) a Master Sergeant serving as the 35th Fighter Wing Operations Plans Superintendent.
