The Wedding (Psalm 45)
Copyright 1998, William O. Richardson

My heart overflows with a good theme
My song is concerning a king
May my tongue be the pen of a writer ready to sing
You are more fair than the children of men
Your lips are anointed with grace
That is why God has blessed you forever
And his countenance shines in your face
Gird your sword on your thigh mighty one
As onward to victory you ride
Reign in truth and prosperity for love and charity
No more will you be denied

Chorus:
Let your right hand teach you terrible things
Arrows aimed at the heart of the foes of the king
Nations fall under your feet
Because you have loved righteousness
And hated the evil you see
Your throne is forever and ever
Oil of gladness is given to thee

Myrrh and aloeswood cassia perfume
Make fragrant the robes that you wear
From the grand ivory palace strings play your glad tune
All the king's daughters are there
At your right stands the Queen dressed in Gold
A gift from the daughter of Tyre
Forget your own people and your father's house
For you are the rich man's desire

The King is enthralled by your beauty
He is your Lord so honor him
Listen O daughter and lend him your ear
The wedding's about to begin
The princess awaits in her chamber
Clad in raiment of checkered spun gold
Her virgin companions are brought unto you
Their beauty your eyes to behold
Instead of the fathers the sons
Shall be princes in all of the land
And your name be remembered forever and ever
In all generations amen
