13 Tears
--- In memory of Rachel Joy Scott
The guns were sounded,
The screams were heard,
And many people died.
No one who is alive today
Can give a reason why,
Those two young men
So filled with hate,
Chose to take their classmates lives that day.
One young girl with enough happiness
To match her middle name,
Was taken from the world,
By two boys her same age.
She loved them all
As she loved life,
But they hated her for her faith.
And the 13 tears in which she sheds,
Are for the lives lost that day.
[Rachel Joy Scott was killed durring the Columbine shooting on April 19th, 1999. She was eating lunch with a friend (who was left wheel chair bound by the incident) when she was targeted for being a Christian. Her friend was shot and she attempted to crawl away to safty after she herself was shot in the hip. The one shooter yanked her up by her hair and pointed a gun in her face. He asked her if she believed in God, she replied "you know i do", and he shot her point blank range.]
