Behind every successful man is his teacher. I was a bum, I can say when I entered the eighth semester. I always had idealised dreams of working alone in a Lab, on a prestigious project. My attitude today is solely due to my teacher. I was a pessimist & always used to shy away from learning difficult things, but he always egged me on. Yes, I was frustrated at times, but it has held me in good stead today. I remember that the project went on & on, each time I did something significant, he was constantly behind me, telling me to do better & better. So, from a simple software, my project became a 3-D, trend display of process variables in real-time. I agree, it can be made better, but from the time & resources available then & from my capability as a programmer then, it was an achievement for me. I especially remember the days I spent in the evenings in the lab, especially till 9:00 PM, somedays. he used to tell me, that he has never given the keys to the lab to any graduate student, but he gave the keys to me & I took the full responsibilities. My only regret is that I found him, in the final semester...
