We prefer budding talents. All that's required is that you have a passionate interest in doing what you do, like singing/playing any music instrument. There's a lot of scope for enjoyment, because we work beyond the horizons of Music. Even if we are not formally signed in with any Music Company, we believe that if we produce good music, there'll automatically be a demand for it...
We strongly believe in the integrity of a person. We believe that Music should be created out of love - for ourselves & the world. We don't encourage bickering among each other & also believe in strict discipline. We Indians have a lack of confidence inherently. We don't believe in ourselves. First we should believe that we are capable of something...
Let me give our example itself. What went wrong with us, as a band ?. It was not a dearth of talent, but a lack of self-confidence & pride in our own capabilities. Harihar, is a bundle of talent. He closes his eyes & plays his keyboard, Annie Andrews has obtained a certificate in Music from the Cambridge University. Both of them teach students & earn quite a lot of Money through their classes. With such versatile talent, it would seem impossible that we can't suceed. The problem was that each time we got a chance, to show our talent, we balked. Everytime before their rock concert I used to tell harihar, anyway you've practised, sing " World Of Peace" today, each time, they would return without singing our songs, even though they were good enough & in some cases better than what they sang. If you have a feeling that the Music you produce is not better than "IronMaiden" or "Guns'n Roses", & when getting a chance its better to sing these songs - noone can save you. You have to have the confidence, otherwise, we'll never have new musicians coming up.
When we got a chance to go to South Africa, we were talking "We'll sing Mein Koi Aisa Geet gaoon" from some hindi film. "Saawan Se Bhi Sundar" is unlike any other song you'll ever have heard before, given proper orchestration, it's just a matter of releasing our Album for it to be the best music ever heard from Bollywood for a long, long, time. I was thinking, the songs of Mohabbatein are lousy, if they had a song like " Dil Mein kabhi kabhi", it would have been so nice, because I identify myself with Raj Aryan, the character Shahrukh plays in the movie...I have the confidence, I know that someday I'll succeed & show the World, this should be your attitude. It should not be that after the first success, we start singing "Pehla Nasha" or any other song. That's why, I always used to sing only my songs in front of an Audience in College. I don't need to sing someone else's song, I know I'm good enough...
