We are anxious to share with you the latest happenings in our lives. As you know by now,
we always keep busy doing things. Sitting idle is not the policy of a true Aztec. Even
in our idle period, we keep doing something, which proves useful for us, like creating
this web-site for example. We performed before Winnie Mandela on her last visit to Kerala.
Our performance, was mentioned by "The Week" magazine's cover story on Winnie Mandela.
By the by, it also happens to be my favourite magazine. It was performed at the VIP suite
in Hotel Ashoka, Kovalam, Trivandrum. Along with Mrs Winnie Mandela there was also present
a dear friend of ours, the Minister for Culture & Arts, MpuMalanga province, South Africa. He
was humbleness personified. We were also invited by the Minister to perform for the
Women's day in South Africa, on November, 2000. It would have been a good launch pad for us.
More... We were selected in Campus Voice'98, south zone level. This was one of the most memorable competitions I ever remember because of its uniqueness. The Competition was conducted by Manix Entertainment, India (A subsidiary of Manix Entertainment, japan), to identify young musical talent in India & to release their albums. We were among the 10 participants selected for the finals which were to have been held at Mumbai in 99, but it didn't turn out, to our bad luck. The finalists would have had their Albums released. We had previously signed a recording contract with Manix Entertainment, Japan. The uniqueness of the competition was that one section was devoted to songs, which the participants had to compose & write themselves, the first section of that kind I've ever seen !. I got selected in that section. It was really unfortunate that this did not turn out !. With regard to Campus Voice '98, we have a request to make, I remember clearly that there was a girl competitor who sang the song "Tere ankhon ke siva duniya mein rakha kya hai", so well that it was better than both Lata Mangeshkar/Mohd. rafi. Unprecedently, the judge even told her to sing the song once more...If any of the readers know her phone number/email/any contact information, please contact us immediately. We would like to have her sing the title song in our debut album... We are participating in the MTV Video Ga-Ga contest, catch us live in the finals !. We will be performing our signature song "Dil mein kabhi kabhi". We sent our audio cassette for the finals, it contained the song "Saawan se bhi sundar", which was the hindi version of our masterpiece "Younger than the springtime", sung by Indrajith. We are sure that it'll be selected, otherwise I guess it'll reflect the quality of the judging. In the finals, hopefully we will be performing with a live orchestra, if so, tighten your seat belts, because you will never have seen anything like it before !. In the unavailability of an Orchestra (depending on the quality of the Management), we'll be using our track, which has been recorded along with an Acoustic guitar. Vijay (tenor) & Anand (seconds) will performing on the great day !. Watch out for us... Negotiations are going on with Times Music & Bombino music about the release of our latest album. I've heard about beaurocracy in Govt Offices, it seems it has come into private offices too. Anyway, we'll keep our heads high, and watch out for our Album in the summer of 2001 !. |
