SANDRA SHEVEY`S tour of Alfred Hitchcock London locations segues into its eighth year and the writer/film historian still leads all the walks herself. Having interviewed Alfred Hitchcock in Hollywood in 1972, and having kept up with him until his death in 1980, Shevey became fascinated with the life he led before he came to Hollywood and decided, after running walks around the London markets, to launch her first megastar London walk. Hitchcock`s London locations takes in about 12 sites from 10 different London neighbourhoods from 3 memorable films: `Frenzy`, `The Man Who Knew Too Much` (1956) and `The Paradine Case`. Many of the locations have never before been identified, such as the eastern European embassy used in `The Man Who Knew Too Much`. The aim of the walk is to assess to what extent Alfred Hitchcock transformed locations to suit whim and/or commercial pressures. In coming to this conclusion, Sandra Shevey employs original location art. Sandra Shevey talks about what the director `was really like` (if this can ever be said of Alfred Hitchcock) in the course of the walk, often playing excerpts from the audio interview. THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK LONDON LOCATIONS WALK runs every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year (including holidays). It begins at 11am and lasts for 3 hours. Cost is £25 excl Travelcard (zones 1 and 2) Advance booking is essential at sandra_shevey@yahoo.com
