I've been playing guitar since I'm about 13, mainly Electric till about
a year ago. I had become bored plaing Heavy Metal and started listening
to old Time music and Bluegrass and the bug took, bought a Fiddle and tried
to learn it, had some success in that I can play tunes and they are recognizeable
but I don't feel I can play the fiddle ;-) Then I picked up an inexpensive
Mandolin, a Santa Rosa copy of a Gibson A style, this turned out to be
something I could handle. The transition from guitar to mandolin wasn't
as hard as to fiddle. I guess I am one of them folks that NEEDS frets ;-)
So after playing this mandolin a while I decided a better one was in order
and after playing quite a few, many of which were WAY outta my price range,
I got a Tacoma M1 mandolin. This is a nice mandolin but maybe not the best
for Bluegrass as it doesn't have that cachunk/bark but since I don't play
much Bluegrass it's not a big deal ;-) Check out Tacoma if your in the
market for a guitar or mandolin at http://www.tacomaguitars.com
