Everyone knows that our favorite NASCAR driver is Rusty Wallace. What everybody might not know is that we really admired Dale, too. His "Intimadator" style of driving made us cuss a blue streak at the T.V. many many times, but that never changed the fact that his talents and personality were unmatched. We cried like babies when he finally got his Daytona 500 win. And when he died, the pain in my heart was second only to that I had when my parents died.
The memories we will always cherish most about him are not necessarily of him, but of the wonderful times spent with my cousins "arguing" about who was better, Rusty or Dale. Nine times out of ten, it came out a tie, but we never failed to have a good time. It wouldn't have been the same with any other driver, I'm sure.
We will continue to enjoy our NASCAR - watching the races on T.V., running our "league", and going to all the races we had planned to this year - but there will be something missing. |
