Frequently Asked Questions
It's absolutely real! It started as a small hobby, something for a few friends with feminist beliefs to play around with, but it has evolved into something serious and real! The founders have written many letters to record companies, radio stations, concert promotors, and record stores lobbying for our cause, and people who have seen the site have been compelled to do the same. We're seeing results, and we're still growing. We chose these three particular women because country music is what we know and love. The problem of women being exploited in advertising exists in all areas of the media, but we have the most information and knowledge about these performers and the country music industry. We feel strongly about the degredation of women in all forms of advertising and entertainment, but we felt this was the best place to start. The website isn't going to change anything. It takes dedicated, involved people to bring about change. We need to actively bombard television and radio stations and also the record companies and let them know they need to change their sales tactics. They exist solely to make money - if we're not buying their products because of their advertising, they WILL change their ways! The website simply lets more people know that we're out here working for change. Send an e-mail to dixie-chick@rednecks.com and she'll give you all the information you need to join in the effort!
