Sound of silent

       Hello darkness my old friend 
       I come to talk with you again 
       Because a vision softly creeping 
       Let it seed while I was cleeping 
       And the vision that was planted in my brain 
       Still remain, within the sound of silence 

       In restless dream I walked alone 
       Narrow street of comble stone 
       'Neath a halo of a street lamp 
       I turned my color to the cold and damp 
       When my eyes were step by the flash of a neon light 
       That split the night and touch the sound of silence 

       And in the naked like I saw 
       Ten thousand people maybe more 
       People's talkin' without speaking 
       People's hearin' without listening 
       People's writing song that voices never share 
       And no one dare disturb the sound of silence 

       "Fool" said I "you do not know" 
       "Silence like a cancer grows" 
       Here my words that I might teach you 
       Take my arms that I might reach you 
       But my words like silence raindrops fell 
       And echo in the well of silence 

       And the people bowed and prayed 
       To the neon god they made 
       And the sign flashed out its warning
