Where We Live
Pete and Jayne Young
We moved to our present home in Arneva, Spain in March, 2002. We left our home in Lincoln in January of the same year and spent a couple of months looking for our new home in Spain, eventually deciding to live in a Spanish village in the province of Alicante. We are lucky to be the first English people living in the village and so far we have enjoyed almost 3 years in this situation.
We are mid-way between Alicante and Murcia (San Javier) airports and Benidorm is about an hour and a half away. The village has everything we need, but it isn't a great place to be if you need a good nightlife. But if snails and octopus are your dishes, then this is where you need to be. A few of the children speak a little bit of English, but we're having to learn the language in order to make our life easier. We're not starving and we're not dehydrated, so things could be worse! We have satallite television, but with restricted channels due to the size of the dish we'd need to pick up the BBC and terrestial channels from the UK. But we do get the news channel and several others, so we're not totally cut off from our native language. And we have a glut of Spanish tv!
