We were proud to have Country Singing Legend and NACMAI Hall of Famer Billy Walker, and his wife and partner, Bettie Walker, with us as Co-Hosts for the Fifth Annual NACMAI Hall of Fame on March 17, 2002, at the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
The 2002 Hall of Fame Induction included Jan Howard, Hank Locklin, Stu Phillips, Jo-El Sonnier, Dave Rowland, Jett Williams and Kenny Gill. There were performances by Jan Howard, Stu Phillips, and Hank Locklin with a special performance by Jeannie Seely of the Grand Ole Opry and 2000 NACMAI Hall of Fame member.
The week also included educational seminars held by Jerry Cupit with Cupit Records from Nashville and Michael de' Bills, Executive Director of the NACMAI. The NACMAI was proud to present Jerry Cupit and Billy Wilbanks, Cupit Records, Nashville, TN, conducting a seminar on "Pitching Yourself to Record Labels in Nashville" along with Question/Answer Seminar on Songwriting. "Are You Serious About A Music career"" presented by Michael de' Bills, Executive Director of the NACMAI, is a must for everyone who is striving to move forward in their musical career. Michael is also the author of "Music By Numbers," a guide to reading and writing music number charts.
This Alabama-born lady has been a mainstay of the Academy of Country Music since 1968, growing with the organization. She has worked tirelessly year after year, overseeing the day to day operation of the office, the year round operation of the organization, she oversees virtually every logistical aspect of the Academy's awards presentation show, including the balloting for the respective awards, overseeing ticket sales, seating and the dinner party immediately following the televised show. It was with great pride that the NACMAI honors this wonderful advocate of Country Music with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Kirt Webster has been a valued friend of the NACMAI since 1998. The sun is already having a hard time setting on this true and loyal friend of the NACMAI.
